Venice access fee: exemption for guests staying overnight in hotels, rented rooms and B&Bs

There are a total of 29 "red alert” days between 25 April and 14 July 2024, during which all day-trippers from outside the Veneto region have to pay the access fee to enter the city on the lagoon. The trial year introduced by the Municipality of Venice has begun with an access fee to the old city which can be booked on-line. It costs EUR 5 per person to be paid before you come to the city. Guests staying overnight in hotels, rented rooms and B&Bs are exempt as they already pay the tourist tax.

Below you'll find instructions on how to get your own exemption from the Access Fee to the City of Venice reserved for guests of accommodation facilities on the 29 mandatory days.

First of all, go to the multilingual portal http://cda.ve.it

Instructions on how to get your own exemption

Once you have chosen your language (top right), proceed as follows:

proceed to the exemption request area and click on the category "guest of an accommodation facility";
select your arrival and departure date;
enter the data for the main declarant holder and specify how many of you are staying;
type the name of the accommodation facility to find it in the list. If this fails to appear automatically, manually enter the name and address by clicking on the red button to the right of the box;
enter and display the personal data for any additional holders;
select the method to complete your registration and confirm.

You must keep and show your exemption vouchers if asked to do so by the persons appointed by the Municipality to carry out any checks.

Day-tripper entry fee to Venice: who has to pay and how it works

The objective of the trial is to discourage "hit and run" tourism on certain days of the year, when tourism is at its peak. In 2024, the trial will take place on the following days: from 25 to 30 April, from 1 to 5 May, followed by the remaining weekends (Saturday and Sunday) until 13-14 July (11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26 May 2024, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30 June 2024 and 6, 7, 13 and 14 July), with the exception of the weekend of 1-2 June.
The entry fee will be mandatory between the hours of 8.30 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.

A number of exclusions and exemptions from payment include not only tourists staying overnight, but also commuters, students, residents in Venice and their family members, children under the age of 14 and other categories. The fee does NOT apply to those passing through Piazzale Roma, Tronchetto or Stazione Marittima, who do not enter the ancient parts of the city. In 2024, the entry fee will not be applied to the smaller islands (Lido, Murano, Burano, Torcello, Sant’Erasmo, Mazzorbo). To prove you have booked and paid the entry fee (or you are excluded or exempt from payment), just scan the QR code on your special voucher.
If you don't have a voucher, you will be fined from EUR 50 upwards: checks will be made in the two city access areas at Stazione Santa Lucia and in Piazzale Roma, without using turnstiles by authorised personnel, who will ask for your entry details and documents.

We look forward to seeing you in Venice!

Locanda Ca’ Lucrezia is a stone’s throw from Santa Lucia train station. We will be happy to welcome you  to our tiny hotel. Your tourist tax will exempt you from the day-tripper access fee.
