Architecture for the future: Venice will host the 19th International Architecture Exhibition - the Biennale Architettura 2025
From 10 May to 23 November 2025, Venice will transform
into an open-air laboratory to reflect on the future of our planet. The 19th
International Architecture Exhibition - the Venice Biennale, curated by Carlo
Ratti and entitled “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective”,
promises to be an immersive experience, where knowledge of the arts, technology
and the environment will unite to tackle the challenges of climate change.
The main theme of this edition is adaptation. Moving
on from the concept of plain mitigation, the Biennale has invited architects,
scientists, artists, farmers, designers and philosophers to devise new
solutions for a deeply changed world. The exhibition will involve over 750
participants and will wind its way between Giardini, Arsenale and Forte
Marghera, and focus closely on the city of Venice, symbol of climate
vulnerability.
Come and explore the Biennale: an experience for every traveller!
The exhibition appears as a "continually moving
machine" that will involve visitors in a dynamic, immersive experience.
Designs, technologies and sensorial installations will be part of a journey
that looks at the past to imagine the future and to stimulate profound thoughts
on how we live and construct. In addition to the exhibition, a public programme
"The sea of
intelligence. Dialogues" will offer conferences,
seminars and workshops to envisage new housing horizons. Venice’s fragile
beauty will become not only the backdrop, but also the protagonist and metaphor
for the global climate challenge.
The city’s
open spaces and centuries-old buildings will also become part of the tale. If
you're visiting, let your curiosity guide you, explore every corner of the
exhibition and experience the Biennale as a journey into today's collective
intelligence.
“TERRÆ AQUÆ”: Italian Pavilion
The Italian Pavilion, curated by Guendalina Salimei,
is entitled “TERRÆ AQUÆ.
Italy and the intelligence of the sea" and reflects on the vital,
fragile relationship between our peninsula and the Mediterranean Sea. The
project will tackle the sustainability of Italian coastlines and invite people
to rethink coastal and port infrastructures in the light of climate change.
